The News Section includes information related to the YellowScope.com website ad development.
More Good Times
Again, I had big service affecting issue come up with my server. This time, I can't blame my hosts insecurity. It appears as though I left a window open in my server that allowed a hacker to gain access to my server. At first it bites at your ego. However, I have taken the opportunity to learn and better myself. My current spare time studies now include security of my linux boxes.
Lots Of Excitement!
I know you haven’t heard much out of yellowscope.com lately. I have been quite busy at my day job. You know that feeling where it feels like all you ever do is put out the fires at work? Well... For me the phrase hits too close to home. On March 16th the office that housed our primary data center burnt down. Needless to say, I am still exhausted.
The good news is that I will have plenty of content in my head that I can use to fill these pages. The bad news is I still don't have the time to transpose the information from my head to the site.
I have not abandoned YellowScope.com. Apparently I just really enjoyworking on the back end of things. I have been hard at work rotating new databases and reorganizing my SQL tables. This leads to geat experience and knowledge gaining for me. However, I know that it comes at a cost of less content for the world.
We are back in Action!
As you may have noticed, Yellowscope.com has been experiencing some issues for the past couple months. The root cause of our issues was the fact that the webhost I was using was attacked by a group of hackers who were able to effectively place hacked files in everyfolder of every website my webhost hosted. I'm planning on writing a post to explain a little more about my experience and the conclusions I have since drawn.
Even though i was able to restore my website and database to a new host within a day or two of noticing my issues, I was pretty slow to bring the site back up completely. This was mostly because I have been sidetracked with other personal projects along with my day job and life craziness..... I apologize.
Please accept my apology with this gift of a new Website Design. I know it's not perfect as I'm not that great of a designer, however it's always good to practice up on your CSS skills.
New SQL Server
I have just finished moving my databases to a new server. They were originally being hosted on a server that was already running poorly even with my tiny set of tables and I knew that this issue would only get worse if I left them there. It's only been a few minutes, but im already pleased with the results of tonights work.
I know it doesn't really look like there has been any progress here in a good number of months, but I have some good news. I have actually been hard at work hand writing a backend for ease of post management and now, as of this post. It is up and running. With that said, there is still much work to be done, and I may still be slow on actual posts, but at least now i have the ability to easily add posts and more content can be expected soon.
With that said, I do have one more announcement to make... I have decided to hold off on enacting my knowledgebase of the week section. there were a few factors contributing to this decision but, the main reason is that, i would rather work on getting the main site up and operational
That concludes the update, for now. I will see you around!
